Dr Linda Williams is a psychiatrist who joined the SCA staff October 1, 2011. She is a graduate of the University of Denver with a BA in biology and chemistry. She received her doctorate in medicine, and completed a post doctoral residency in family medicine, at the University of Colorado Medical School.
Dr. Williams previously practiced primary care medicine in the Denver area. She finished a second residency in adult psychiatry at Harvard Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Psychiatric Hospital in Boston. She now practices exclusively in the field of psychiatry.
Dr. Williams’ training includes psychiatric evaluation and assessment, medication management, and a variety of therapy approaches for individuals and groups. She has had additional training in primary care psychiatry, treating emotional distress accompanying chronic or serious medical illness.
With extensive international/cross-cultural field experience, Dr. Williams has also worked with immigrant populations in the United States. She has worked in disaster zones rendering emergency physical and psychiatric care to both survivors and disaster workers.
Most recently Dr. Williams worked in Haiti post earthquake serving as her team’s trauma counselor. She also provided emergency mental health care in the largest tent city, worked with the United Nations to establish a Mental Health Task Force, and helped to write Haiti’s emergency disaster mental health policy.
