Jim Lewis earned his MDiv from Faith Baptist Theological Seminary. He received his MA in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado at Denver, where he took extra course work in marriage and family therapy, and won the Outstanding Therapist award for his practicum work. Jim practiced pastoral counseling in a number of positions from 1977 until joining SCA in 1996.
A licensed professional counselor, Jim is experienced in treating adults and adolescents for diverse issues including depression and bipolar disorders, anxiety and panic disorder, abuse recovery, grief, divorce recovery and single parenting. Having experienced the stages of life through middle-age, he identifies not only with younger clients but with those aged forty and over.
Jim has worked extensively with couples and families in the areas of premarital counseling, communication skills and conflict resolution. He specializes in counseling couples recovering from infidelity. Jim is professionally trained in the Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program (PREP) model of marital counseling.
